In 2021, overseas purchases of composition leather decreased by -41.9% to X square meters, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 93% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, composition leather imports reduced notably to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -32.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 46%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X.
