Cereal Flour Market Size in Greece

The value of the cereal flour market in Greece went down to $X in 2018, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, cereal flour consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Greece exports peaked at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2018, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cereal flour exports went up notably to $X in 2018. In general, the total exports indicated a temperate increase from 2007 to 2018: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, cereal flour exports decreased by -X% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Greece exports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

In 2018, Turkey (X tonnes) and Kazakhstan (X tonnes) represented the main exporters of cereal floursin the world, together comprising X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Germany (X tonnes), creating a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Argentina (X tonnes), Pakistan (X tonnes), Belgium (X tonnes), Egypt (X tonnes), the U.S. (X tonnes), France (X tonnes), Uzbekistan (X tonnes), Mexico (X tonnes) and Canada (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest cereal flour supplier from Greece, comprising X% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Kazakhstan ($X), with a X% share of global exports. It was followed by Germany, with a X% share.

In Turkey, cereal flour exports increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007-2018. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the cereal flour export price in Greece amounted to $X per tonne, going up by X% against the previous year. Overall, the cereal flour export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the export price increased by X% year-to-year. In that year, the export prices for cereal flours reached their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2009 to 2018, the growth in terms of the export prices for cereal flours failed to regain its momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per tonne), while Kazakhstan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the U.S., while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Greece

For the third consecutive year, into Greece recorded decline in imports of cereal flours, which decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2018. Over the period under review, cereal flour imports, however, recorded remarkable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Greece imports peaked at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

In value terms, cereal flour imports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, cereal flour imports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Greece imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Afghanistan (X tonnes) and Iraq (X tonnes) were the key importers of cereal flours in 2018, reaching approx. X% and X% of total imports, respectively. Uzbekistan (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes), Angola (X tonnes), the U.S. (X tonnes), Syrian Arab Republic (X tonnes), France (X tonnes), Brazil (X tonnes), Guinea (X tonnes), Bolivia (X tonnes) and Somalia (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Guinea, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest cereal flour importing markets into Greece were Iraq ($X), Afghanistan ($X) and the U.S. ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. The Netherlands, France, Angola, Guinea, Brazil, Syrian Arab Republic, Uzbekistan, Bolivia and Somalia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The cereal flour import price in Greece stood at $X per tonne in 2018, going up by X% against the previous year. Overall, the cereal flour import price, however, continues to indicate a temperate contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when the import price increased by X% year-to-year. In that year, the import prices for cereal flours reached their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2009 to 2018, the growth in terms of the import prices for cereal flours remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was the U.S. ($X per tonne), while Uzbekistan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
