In 2021, shipments abroad of electric blankets was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 58%. The global exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, electric blanket exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

China prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was near 83% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X units), generating a 5.2% share of total exports. The following exporters - Indonesia (X units) and Belgium (X units) - each resulted at a 4.8% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to electric blanket exports from China stood at +5.3%. At the same time, Belgium (+32.6%) and Indonesia (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belgium emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +32.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-16.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+21 p.p.) and Belgium (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of the Czech Republic (-24.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest electric blanket supplier worldwide, comprising 84% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 3.2% share of global exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 2.9% share.

In China, electric blanket exports increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (-9.2% per year) and Indonesia (-1.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average electric blanket export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 8.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 39% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

While the share of the United States (+8 p.p.) and Germany (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of Chile (-3.2 p.p.) and Japan (-5.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United States stood at +4.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (-1.3% per year) and the UK (+6.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average electric blanket import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 7.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild downturn. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Canada ($X per unit) and Australia ($X per unit), while Chile ($X per unit) and the United States ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
