Sulphur Market Size in Ghana

In value terms, sulphur exports totaled less than $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Togo (X tons) was the main destination for sulphur exports from Ghana, accounting for a approx. X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of volume to Togo totaled +X%.
In value terms, Togo ($X) also remains the key foreign market for sulphur exports from Ghana.

The average sulphur export price stood at $X per ton in 2019, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price faced a precipitous descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Togo.

Sulphur imports into Ghana shrank significantly to X tons in 2021, which is down by -X% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sulphur imports contracted to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sulphur to Ghana, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, sulphur imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), fourfold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+X% per year) and Poland (-X% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United States ($X) and India ($X) appeared to be the largest sulphur suppliers to Ghana, with a combined X% share of total imports.
India, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average sulphur import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, sulphur import price decreased by -X% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by X%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
