In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2020. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Taiwan (Chinese) (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes) and Switzerland (X tonnes) were the main destinations of unmanufactured tobacco exports from Germany, together accounting for X% of total exports. Romania, Ukraine, the U.S., Poland, Belgium, France, Sweden, the Philippines and Nigeria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Philippines (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the U.S. ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco imports shrank to $X in 2020. In general, imports saw a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2020, Brazil (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of unmanufactured tobacco to Germany, accounting for a X% share of total imports.
