Exports from Germany

In 2018, the exports of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice from Germany stood at X tonnes, lowering by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, milled rice exports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, milled rice exports reached their maximum at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2018, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, milled rice exports stood at $X in 2018. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2018; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Poland (X tonnes) was the main destination for milled rice exports from Germany, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, milled rice exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Austria (X tonnes), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Turkey (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of value to Poland amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Austria (+X% per year) and the Netherlands (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average milled rice export price stood at $X per tonne in 2018, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the milled rice export price, however, continues to indicate a moderate setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2018, export prices failed to regain their momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany

In 2018, approx. X tonnes of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice were imported into Germany; remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2007 to 2018: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, milled rice imports decreased by -X% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 with an increase of X% y-o-y.
