Mate Market Size in Germany

The German mate market skyrocketed to $X in 2020, growing by X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Poland (X tonnes) was the main destination for mate exports from Germany, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, mate exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tonnes), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by France (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+X% per year) and France (+X% per year).

The average mate export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, declining by -X% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, mate export price decreased by -X% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2015 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was France ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mate imports into Germany surged to X tonnes in 2020, growing by X% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the countries with the highest prices were Brazil ($X per tonne) and Argentina ($X per tonne), while the price for Paraguay ($X per tonne) and Syrian Arab Republic ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
