Mango And Mangosteen Market Size in Germany

In 2019, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the German mango and mangosteen market, when its value decreased by -X% to $X. These countries were followed by France, Italy, Austria, Portugal, Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania and Sweden, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Romania (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Poland ($X) and the UK ($X) were the largest markets for mango and mangosteen exported from Germany worldwide, together comprising X% of total exports. The average mango and mangosteen export price stood at $X per tonne in 2019, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the last twelve years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany

In 2019, purchases abroad of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas decreased by -X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2012, thus ending a six-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2018, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, mango and mangosteen imports contracted to $X in 2019. In general, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2019, Brazil (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of mango and mangosteen to Germany, accounting for a X% share of total imports. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Cote d'Ivoire (X tonnes), with a X% share.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, mango and mangosteen import price decreased by -X% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 an increase of X% year-to-year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, import prices failed to regain the momentum.
