In 2022, overseas shipments of knotted carpets and other knotted textile floor coverings increased by 14% to X square meters, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, showed a deep slump. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X square meters in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Iran (X square meters), India (X square meters) and Turkey (X square meters) were the main suppliers of knotted carpet imports to Germany, with a combined 68% share of total imports. Pakistan, China, Morocco and Nepal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
