Fluorspar Market Size in Germany

The German fluorspar market dropped rapidly to $X in 2020, waning by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption showed a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 when the market value increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2013 to 2020, the growth of the market failed to regain the momentum.

Overall, the total production indicated temperate growth from 2007 to 2020: its value decreased at an average annual rate of -X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, production increased by +X% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Fluorspar production peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Fluorspar Exports

Exports from Germany

In 2020, fluorspar exports from Germany expanded significantly to X tonnes, surging by X% compared with 2019 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, fluorspar exports surged to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

The Czech Republic (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes) and France (X tonnes) were the main destinations of fluorspar exports from Germany, together comprising X% of total exports. Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Russia, Slovakia, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Turkey, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for fluorspar exported from Germany were the Czech Republic ($X), Belgium ($X) and France ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. Poland, Austria, Turkey, Russia, Hungary, Slovakia, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK and Slovenia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average fluorspar export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated perceptible growth from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, fluorspar export price increased by +X% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 an increase of X% year-to-year. The export price peaked in 2020 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Fluorspar Imports

Imports into Germany

In 2020, the amount of fluorspar imported into Germany declined to X tonnes, reducing by -X% against the year before. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, fluorspar imports dropped sharply to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2012 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2013 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2020, South Africa (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of fluorspar to Germany, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, fluorspar imports from South Africa exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tonnes), twofold. Viet Nam (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from South Africa totaled -X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+X% per year) and Viet Nam (+X% per year).

In value terms, the largest fluorspar suppliers to Germany were South Africa ($X), Spain ($X) and Viet Nam ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports.

Viet Nam (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2020, the average fluorspar import price amounted to $X per tonne, waning by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, fluorspar import price increased by +X% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 when the average import price increased by X% year-to-year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2019, and then contracted in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices from Morocco ($X per tonne) and Viet Nam ($X per tonne), while the price for South Africa ($X per tonne) and Canada ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
