Dried Onion Market Size in Germany

In value terms, dried onion exports expanded sharply to $X in 2020. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Switzerland (X tonnes), Austria (X tonnes) and Poland (X tonnes) were the main destinations of dried onion exports from Germany, together accounting for X% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, France, Spain, Hungary, Portugal, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy and Sweden, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Portugal, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was France ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, purchases abroad of dried onions increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, dried onion imports rose rapidly to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2020, India (X tonnes) constituted the largest dried onion supplier to Germany, with a X% share of total imports.
