In value terms, concentrated pineapple juice exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 107% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Italy (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main destinations of concentrated pineapple juice exports from Germany, together accounting for 61% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 44% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Costa Rica (+26.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
