Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Austria (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Poland (X units) were the main destinations of brassiere exports from Germany, with a combined 45% share of total exports. The Czech Republic, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Russia, the UK and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +25.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for brassiere exported from Germany were Switzerland ($X), Austria ($X) and Poland ($X), together comprising 45% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Italy, Russia, Hungary, the UK, Slovakia and Romania, which together accounted for a further 42%.
Among the main countries of destination, Romania, with a CAGR of +25.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average brassiere export price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, brassiere imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of brassiere to Germany, with a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, brassiere imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Bangladesh (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Indonesia (X units), with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Bangladesh (+22.0% per year) and Indonesia (+2.3% per year).
In value terms, the largest brassiere suppliers to Germany were China ($X), Bangladesh ($X) and Indonesia ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports. Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Poland, the Netherlands, Morocco, Hungary, Cambodia and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
Cambodia, with a CAGR of +38.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
