Beef Market Size in Germany

The revenue of the beef market in Germany amounted to $X in 2018, jumping by X% against the previous year. The Netherlands (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes) and France (X tonnes) were the main destinations of beef exports from Germany, with a combined X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Turkey, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for beef exported from Germany worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports.

The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, export prices failed to regain their momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Beef Imports

Imports into Germany

In 2018, approx. X tonnes of beef (cattle meat) were imported into Germany; lowering by -X% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2018; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

In value terms, beef imports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, the total imports indicated strong growth from 2007 to 2018: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, beef imports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. In that year, beef imports reached their peak of $X. In 2018, the Netherlands (X tonnes) constituted the largest beef supplier to Germany, with a X% share of total imports.
