Exports from France

In 2022, overseas shipments of tobacco (smoking tobacco, chewing tobacco, snuff) increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tobacco exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Belgium (X tons) was the main destination for tobacco exports from France, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, tobacco exports to Belgium exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X tons), threefold. Japan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Belgium amounted to X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (X% per year) and Japan (X% per year).
