In 2021, after two years of decline, there was growth in the French salt market, when its value increased by X% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption showed a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tonnes), Italy (X tonnes) and Belgium (X tonnes) were the main destinations of salt exports from France, together comprising X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Spain, Denmark, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the United States, the UK, the Netherlands and Morocco, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Denmark (with a CAGR of +X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for salt exported from France were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. The United States, Spain, the UK, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Luxembourg and Morocco lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X the main countries of destination, Morocco, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average salt export price amounted to $X per tonne, surging by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2015 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Luxembourg ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into France

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes. From 2014 to 2021, the growth imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, salt imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value decreased at an average annual rate of -X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes) and the UK (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of salt imports to France, with a combined X% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Tunisia, Germany, Belgium and Italy, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Tunisia (with a CAGR of +X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest salt suppliers to France were Spain ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Belgium ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports.

Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average salt import price amounted to $X per tonne, waning by -X% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of X%. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per tonne), while the price for Tunisia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
