In value terms, cinnamon exports contracted to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -X% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Poland (X tonnes), the UK (X tonnes) and Portugal (X tonnes) were the main destinations of cinnamon exports from France, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Italy, Spain, Germany and Switzerland, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Switzerland (+X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), the UK ($X) and Portugal ($X) were the largest markets for cinnamon exported from France worldwide, together accounting for X% of total exports.
Poland, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average cinnamon export price stood at $X per tonne in 2021, which is down by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into France
Cinnamon imports into France fell to X tonnes in 2021, reducing by -X% on the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes. From 2019 to 2021, the growth imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cinnamon imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Indonesia (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of cinnamon to France, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, cinnamon imports from Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Madagascar (X tonnes), threefold. The Netherlands (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Indonesia stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Madagascar (+X% per year) and the Netherlands (+X% per year).
In value terms, Indonesia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of cinnamon to France, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Madagascar ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Sri Lanka, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Indonesia totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Madagascar (+X% per year) and Sri Lanka (+X% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average cinnamon import price stood at $X per tonne in 2021, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, cinnamon import price increased by +X% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($X per tonne), while the price for Indonesia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
