The average areca nut export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt downturn. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Madagascar ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Belgium stood at $X per tonne.

In 2020, Indonesia (X tonnes) was the main areca nut supplier to France, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, areca nut imports from Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tonnes), more than tenfold.
