Alcohols Market Size in France

Italy (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes) and Belgium (X tonnes) were the main destinations of alcohols exports from France, together comprising X% of total exports. Germany, China, Switzerland, Singapore, Portugal and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Singapore, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain ($X), Italy ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for alcohols exported from France worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Switzerland, Belgium, China, the UK, Singapore and Portugal, which together accounted for a further X terms of the main countries of destination, Portugal recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2020, the average alcohols export price amounted to $X per tonne, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, supplies from abroad of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, alcohols imports contracted to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
