The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tonnes. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, salt exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Estonia (X tonnes), France (X tonnes) and Spain (X tonnes) were the main destinations of salt exports from Finland, together comprising X% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in France (with a CAGR of +X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), Belgium ($X) and Spain ($X) were the largest markets for salt exported from Finland worldwide, together accounting for X% of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, France, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average salt export price stood at $X per tonne in 2021, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, salt imports stood at $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes) and Italy (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of salt imports to Finland, together accounting for X% of total imports. Belarus and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest salt suppliers to Finland were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per tonne), while the price for Belarus ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
