In 2021, overseas purchases of rice increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
