In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of mercuries, when their volume increased by X% to X kg. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X kg in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mercury imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Germany (X kg) constituted the largest mercury supplier to Finland, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, mercury imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X kg), more than tenfold.
