Estonia (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) were the main destinations of beer exports from Finland, with a combined 74% share of total exports. Germany, Russia, Latvia and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Germany (with a CAGR of +36.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for beer exported from Finland were Estonia ($X), Denmark ($X) and Lithuania ($X), with a combined 70% share of total exports. Germany, Russia, Latvia and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.
Latvia, with a CAGR of +32.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average beer export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 2.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 15%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 4.3% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, beer imports amounted to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 11%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest beer supplier to Finland, accounting for a 36% share of total imports. Moreover, beer imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), twofold. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled -3.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+7.1% per year) and the Czech Republic (-1.2% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the largest beer suppliers to Finland, together comprising 54% of total imports. These countries were followed by the UK, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Mexico, Estonia, Russia, Denmark, Spain and France, which together accounted for a further 38%.
Among the main suppliers, Russia, with a CAGR of +40.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average beer import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 20%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
