The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. These countries were followed by Russia, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Poland, which together accounted for a further 37%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +15.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
