In value terms, composite laboratory reagents exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. Germany was the major exporter of composite diagnostic or laboratory reagents in Europe, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near 44% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), Ireland (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Belgium (X tons), together comprising a 28% share of total exports. The following exporters - Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons), the UK (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) - together made up 21% of total exports.
Exports from Germany increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+17.6%), Spain (+12.5%), Sweden (+10.0%), Ireland (+7.3%), Hungary (+6.6%), the Netherlands (+5.9%), Belgium (+3.2%) and Italy (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +17.6% from 2012-2021. Austria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the UK (-1.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+2.4 p.p.) and Spain (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Germany (-1.9 p.p.), the UK (-3.2 p.p.) and Austria (-3.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest composite laboratory reagents supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the UK ($X), together comprising 60% of total exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Poland and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 26%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +19.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -6.7% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 24%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+12.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +94.5% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
