Exports in Europe

For the fourth consecutive year, Europe recorded growth in overseas shipments of articles of peat, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed tangible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, articles of peat exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Latvia prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Sweden (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Poland (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Denmark (X tons) and Norway (X tons) - each amounted to an X% share of total exports.

Latvia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the articles of peat exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while Latvia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the third year in a row, Europe recorded growth in purchases abroad of articles of peat, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, articles of peat imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Spain was the main importer of articles of peat in Europe, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2022.
