Glass Fabric Exports in the EU

In 2017, glass fabric exports in the European Union stood at X square meters, rising by X% against the previous year. The total export volume had been increasing at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2017; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012, an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of exports peaked in 2017, and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, glass fabric exports stood at $X in 2017. The glass fabric exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of exports peaked of $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2017, it failed to regain its strength.

Glass Fabric Exports by Country in the EU

In 2017, the Czech Republic (X square meters) represented the largest exporter for woven fabrics (including narrow fabrics) of glass fibers, creating X% of total exports. Germany (X square meters) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Latvia (X square meters), Belgium (X square meters), France (X square meters), and Italy (X square meters). All these countries together occupied near X% share of total exports. Hungary (X square meters), Slovakia (X square meters), the UK (X square meters), Spain (X square meters), Croatia (X square meters), and Austria (X square meters) took the weak share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2017, average annual rates of growth with regard to glass fabric exports from the Czech Republic stood at +X%. At the same time, Latvia (+X%), Belgium (+X%), Croatia (+X%), Hungary (+X%), and Germany (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Latvia emerged as the fastest growing exporter in the European Union, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2017. Italy, and Slovakia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Spain (-X%), the UK (-X%), France (-X%), and Austria (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. France (X%), and Austria (X%) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Germany, Belgium, Latvia, and the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by -X%, -X%, -X%, and -X% from 2007 to 2017, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the Czech Republic ($X), and France ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2017, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, the UK, Latvia, Italy, Austria, Spain, Hungary, Slovakia and Croatia, which together accounted for a further X%.

Latvia (+X% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the exports, in terms of the main exporting countries, over the last X years, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Glass Fabric Export Prices by Country in the EU

The average glass fabric export price stood at $X per thousand square meters in 2017, reducing by -X% against the previous year. The glass fabric export price continues to indicate a mild drop. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008, when it surged by X% against the previous year. In that year, the average export prices for woven fabrics (including narrow fabrics) of glass fibers reached its maximum level of $X per thousand square meters. From 2009 to 2017, growth of the average export prices for woven fabrics (including narrow fabrics) of glass fibers failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2017, the country with the highest export price was the UK ($X per square meter), while Slovakia ($X per thousand square meters) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2017, the most notable growth rate of export prices was attained by Austria (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
