Unmanufactured Tobacco Market Size in the EU

The EU unmanufactured tobacco market declined modestly to $X in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Exports in the EU

In 2022, shipments abroad of tobacco (unmanufactured) increased by X% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco exports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

Belgium represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Greece (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons), together committing a X% share of total exports.

Belgium was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tobacco (unmanufactured) exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Poland (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
