Sparkling wine exports expanded modestly to X litres in 2022, increasing by X% on 2021 figures. Total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, sparkling wine exports rose to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Italy was the key exporter of sparkling wine in the European Union, with the volume of exports accounting for X litres, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. France (X litres) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Spain (X litres). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports. Germany (X litres), Latvia (X litres) and Belgium (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to sparkling wine exports from Italy stood at X%. At the same time, Latvia (X%), Belgium (X%) and France (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Latvia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Spain (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Italy (X p.p.), Latvia (X p.p.) and Belgium (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of France (X p.p.) and Spain (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. In France, sparkling wine exports increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (X% per year) and Spain (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per litre, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per litre. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per litre, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per litre), while France ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
