Silicon Exports

Exports in the EU

In 2023, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of silicon, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2022, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In value terms, silicon exports declined rapidly to $X in 2023. Overall, exports, however, posted modest growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2022, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

Exports by Country

The Netherlands represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for X% of total exports. Germany (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by France (X%). Spain (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Croatia (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Croatia (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest silicon supplier in the European Union, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a X% share.

In 2023, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of silicon, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2022, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, silicon imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a noticeable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced notably in the following year.
