The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +76.8% against 2012 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Exports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by Spain (X tons), Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) represented the key exporters of plastic baths, wash-basins, lavatory pans and covers and similar sanitary ware, together creating 73% of total exports. Portugal (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Slovenia (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), France (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Croatia (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +21.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest plastic sanitary ware supplier in the European Union, comprising 33% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($X), with an 8.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with an 8.9% share.
In Germany, plastic sanitary ware exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+15.3% per year) and Italy (+4.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight contraction. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
For the sixth consecutive year, the European Union recorded growth in overseas purchases of plastic baths, wash-basins, lavatory pans and covers and similar sanitary ware, which increased by 17% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +71.3% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, plastic sanitary ware imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +81.7% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, France (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the major importers of plastic baths, wash-basins, lavatory pans and covers and similar sanitary ware in the European Union, together committing 38% of total imports. The Netherlands (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Italy (6.8%), Poland (6.7%), Belgium (6.7%) and Spain (4.6%). Austria (X tons), Romania (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Ireland (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +11.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest plastic sanitary ware importing markets in the European Union were Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 46% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Spain, the Czech Republic, Romania, Portugal, Hungary and Ireland, which together accounted for a further 41%.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +13.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 10% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while Ireland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
