Plantain Exports

Exports in the EU

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of plantains, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports saw a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plantain exports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The Netherlands was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which resulted at X% of total exports. Belgium (X tons) took an X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Hungary (X%), Portugal (X%), Italy (X%), Greece (X%), Spain (X%) and France (X%).

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to plantain exports from the Netherlands stood at X%. At the same time, Portugal (X%) and France (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Portugal emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Spain and Greece experienced a relatively flat trend pattern.
