Exports of Processed Petroleum Oils and Distillates

Exports in the EU

In 2022, overseas shipments of processed petroleum oils and distillates increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, processed petroleum oils and distillates exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The Netherlands was the major exporter of processed petroleum oils and distillates in the European Union, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Spain (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Belgium (X%), Italy (X%), Germany (X%) and Greece (X%).
