Exports in the EU

After four years of growth, overseas shipments of mattresses of cellular rubber or plastics decreased by -32.7% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, exports of mattresses of cellular rubber or plastics dropped to $X in 2022. At the same time, Romania (+44.3%), Spain (+16.8%), Portugal (+15.5%), the Czech Republic (+10.4%), Germany (+8.0%) and Sweden (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +44.3% from 2012-2022. Denmark experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Austria (-3.1%), Belgium (-3.4%), the Netherlands (-5.3%) and Italy (-5.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Romania (+6.7 p.p.), Spain (+5.6 p.p.), Germany (+5.3 p.p.) and Portugal (+2.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Denmark (-2.3 p.p.), the Netherlands (-3 p.p.), Belgium (-3.1 p.p.), Italy (-5.9 p.p.) and Poland (-8.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest mattresses of cellular rubber or plastics supplier in the European Union, comprising 28% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Denmark ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with an 11% share.
