In 2022, overseas shipments of iron or steel gas domestic appliances increased by 2.8% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, exports showed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 46% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, metal gas appliances exports dropped to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 36%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from Poland (X units), Italy (X units), Spain (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Germany (X units), together amounting to 76% of total export. The Czech Republic (X units), Estonia (X units), Greece (X units), Portugal (X units), Denmark (X units) and Ireland (X units) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +30.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Spain ($X) and Italy ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 60% of total exports. Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Ireland, Portugal, Denmark and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
Estonia, with a CAGR of +13.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, declining by -15.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Greece ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+14.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
After two years of growth, purchases abroad of iron or steel gas domestic appliances decreased by -1.9% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 111% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.
In value terms, metal gas appliances imports declined to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +20.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 55%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X units), distantly followed by Poland (X units), Spain (X units), France (X units) and Italy (X units) represented the key importers of iron or steel gas domestic appliances, together generating 67% of total imports. The following importers - Sweden (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Romania (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Slovakia (X units), Denmark (X units), Belgium (X units) and Greece (X units) - together made up 23% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to metal gas appliances imports into Germany stood at +17.0%. At the same time, Poland (+25.1%), the Czech Republic (+17.9%), Sweden (+16.2%), Slovakia (+14.4%), Romania (+13.4%), Spain (+12.8%), Italy (+1.8%) and France (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +25.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Greece (-1.4%), Belgium (-1.8%), Denmark (-5.1%) and the Netherlands (-6.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the Czech Republic increased by +16, +11, +4.3, +2.1 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported iron or steel gas domestic appliances in the European Union, comprising 29% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 9.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany amounted to +10.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+14.1% per year) and France (-1.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -7.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 36% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+10.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
