The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, medical instruments exports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +74.2% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In 2022, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by Italy (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Slovenia (X tons), France (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main exporters of instruments used in medical sciences, together mixing up 77% of total exports. The Czech Republic (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Ireland (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovenia (with a CAGR of +31.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 4.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while Slovenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports posted a strong increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade.
