Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 34%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+13.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of grinding or polishing machines for working stone, ceramics and concrete was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 46%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Spain (X units), distantly followed by Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units), France (X units), Poland (X units), Italy (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) were the major importers of grinding or polishing machines for working stone, ceramics and concrete, together achieving 71% of total imports. Belgium (X units), Sweden (X units), Portugal (X units), Romania (X units), Austria (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Spain increased at an average annual rate of +26.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+38.5%), the Netherlands (+20.0%), Portugal (+16.8%), Italy (+12.9%), Belgium (+6.3%), Romania (+4.4%), France (+3.9%), Poland (+3.8%), Austria (+3.6%) and Sweden (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +38.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Bulgaria (-3.8%) and Germany (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Spain (+17 p.p.), the Netherlands (+6 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+5.3 p.p.), Italy (+3.3 p.p.) and Portugal (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Poland, France, Bulgaria and Germany saw its share reduced by -1.9%, -2%, -3.3% and -17.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Spain ($X) and France ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 40% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Spain, with a CAGR of +14.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 3.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+5.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
