Fruit Flour Market Size in the EU

The EU fruit flour market declined to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -14.7% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the production volume increased by 72% against the previous year. Fruit Flour Exports

Exports in the EU

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of fruit flour, when their volume decreased by -2.5% to X tons. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 22%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, fruit flour exports shrank to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.

Exports by Country

Spain dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 61% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Germany (X tons), Italy (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons), together achieving a 25% share of total exports. Belgium (X tons), Poland (X tons) and France (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to fruit flour exports from Spain stood at +4.4%. At the same time, Poland (+87.9%), the Netherlands (+8.7%), France (+5.3%), Germany (+4.8%) and Italy (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +87.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belgium (-1.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Poland increased by +19, +4, +3, +2.3 and +2.2 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Spain ($X) remains the largest fruit flour supplier in the European Union, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 9.8% share.

In Spain, fruit flour exports increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+6.2% per year) and Italy (+3.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -9.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU

After two years of growth, overseas purchases of fruit flour decreased by -11.4% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports showed a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fruit flour imports dropped to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 24%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

France (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented roughly 58% of total imports in 2022. The Netherlands (X tons) took an 8.2% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Italy (6.2%). Austria (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Poland (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Spain (X tons), Romania (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +29.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest fruit flour importing markets in the European Union were France ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 64% of total imports. Austria, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Spain, the Czech Republic and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +28.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 53% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+7.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
