Exports from France increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Slovakia (+60.5%), Ireland (+33.7%) and Germany (+4.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +60.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the Netherlands (-1.9%), the Czech Republic (-8.9%) and Poland (-15.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. France (+32 p.p.), Slovakia (+4.8 p.p.), Ireland (+3.2 p.p.) and Germany (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Poland saw its share reduced by -3.1%, -8.6% and -30.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest digital data processing machine supplier in the European Union, comprising 38% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+6.5% per year) and Germany (+4.5% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, waning by -16.2% against the previous year. Export price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine-year period. In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 60% share of total imports. Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.

Slovakia, with a CAGR of +34.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, surging by 7.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+12.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
