In 2021, the EU truck crane market decreased by -0.8% to $X, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. In general, consumption saw a remarkable increase. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, truck crane production expanded rapidly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, overseas shipments of truck cranes increased by 23% to X units, rising for the fourth consecutive year after four years of decline. Overall, exports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 702% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, truck crane exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a slight decrease. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany prevails in exports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 91% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - the Netherlands (X units) and Belgium (X units) - each resulted at a 3.6% share of total exports.
Germany was also the fastest-growing in terms of the truck cranes exports, with a CAGR of +19.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belgium (+16.5%) and the Netherlands (+7.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Germany (+11 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the Netherlands saw its share reduced by -2.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest truck crane supplier in the European Union, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with an 8.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany stood at -1.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (+1.6% per year) and Belgium (-3.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 128%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (-5.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU
In 2021, approx. X units of truck cranes were imported in the European Union; rising by 23% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 54%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, truck crane imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Greece (X units), distantly followed by France (X units), Germany (X units), Spain (X units), Belgium (X units), Ireland (X units) and Austria (X units) represented the main importers of truck cranes, together mixing up 89% of total imports. Poland (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +45.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest truck crane importing markets in the European Union were France ($X), Spain ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 31% share of total imports. Germany, Poland, Ireland, Austria and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.
Greece, with a CAGR of +24.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -5.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Greece ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+15.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
