Exports in the EU
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of chick peas decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, chick peas exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
France represented the key exporter of chick peas in the European Union, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Belgium (X tons) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Portugal (X%), Italy (X%), the Netherlands (X%), Bulgaria (X%), Spain (X%) and Germany (X%).
France was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chick peas exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belgium (X%), Bulgaria (X%), the Netherlands (X%), Germany (X%), Portugal (X%), Italy (X%) and Spain (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
