Production By Country in the EU
Spain (X tonnes) constituted the country with the largest volume of avocado production, accounting for X% of total volume. Moreover, avocado production in Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Greece (X tonnes), tenfold.

Avocado exports soared to X tonnes in 2020, growing by X% compared with 2019. Over the period under review, exports saw resilient growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, avocado exports surged to $X in 2020. Overall, exports showed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands was the key exporter of avocados in the European Union, with the volume of exports accounting for X tonnes, which was near X% of total exports in 2020. Spain (X tonnes) held a X% share (based on tonnes) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Belgium (X%) and France (X%). Germany (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Belgium (+X%), Germany (+X%) and Spain (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belgium emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2007 to 2020, the share of the Netherlands and Belgium increased by +X and +X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Export Prices by Country
In 2020, the avocado export price in the European Union amounted to $X per tonne, which is down by -X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2020, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the export price increased by X% year-to-year. The level of export peaked at $X per tonne in 2019, and then declined slightly in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Germany ($X per tonne) and Spain ($X per tonne), while Belgium ($X per tonne) and France ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

For the ninth consecutive year, the European Union recorded growth in overseas purchases of avocados, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2020. Overall, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2020 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, avocado imports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. In general, imports enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2020 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2020, the Netherlands (X tonnes) was the main importer of avocados, achieving X% of total imports. Spain (X tonnes) occupied a X% share (based on tonnes) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by France (X%) and Germany (X%). Belgium (X tonnes), Italy (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes), Sweden (X tonnes) and Denmark (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, avocado import price decreased by -X% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per tonne), while Spain ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
