Aluminium Exports in the EU

In 2017, approx. X tonnes of aluminium ores and concentrates (bauxite) were exported in the European Union; reducing by -X% against the previous year. The aluminium exports continue to indicate a deep decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016, when the exports increased by X% year-to-year. The volume of exports peaked of X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2017, it failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, aluminium exports totaled $X in 2017. The aluminium exports continue to indicate a noticeable slump. In that year, the aluminium exports reached its maximum level of $X. From 2009 to 2017, growth of the aluminium exports stood at a somewhat lower level.

Aluminium Exports by Country in the EU

Greece (X tonnes) represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tonnes, which reached X% of total exports. Italy (X tonnes) took a X% share (based on tonnes) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Belgium (X%), and France (X%). The following exporters - Germany (X tonnes), and the Netherlands (X tonnes) each finished at a X% share of total exports.

Exports from Greece decreased at an average annual rate of -X% from 2007 to 2017. At the same time, Italy (+X%), and France (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Italy emerged as the fastest growing exporter in the European Union, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2017. Belgium experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Germany (-X%), and the Netherlands (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Greece (X%), and the Netherlands (X%) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2007-2017, the share of Italy (-X%) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest aluminium markets worldwide were Greece ($X), Belgium ($X), and Germany ($X), together comprising X% of total exports.

Germany (+X% per year) experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to the exports, among the main exporting countries, over the last X year period, while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Aluminium Export Prices by Country in the EU

In 2017, the average export price for aluminium ores and concentrates (bauxite) amounted to $X per tonne, coming down by -X% against the previous year. The export price indicated a mild expansion from 2007 to 2017: it increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2017 figures, the aluminium export price decreased by -X% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009, an increase of X% year-to-year. In that year, the average export prices for aluminium ores and concentrates (bauxite) reached its maximum level of $X per tonne.
