Exports from Egypt

For the third consecutive year, Egypt recorded growth in shipments abroad of yarn of synthetic or artificial staple fibers, which increased by X% to X tons in 2023. Overall, exports saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2023 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, synthetic yarn exports stood at $X in 2023. In general, exports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2023 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Turkey (X tons) was the main destination for synthetic yarn exports from Egypt, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, synthetic yarn exports to Turkey exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Syrian Arab Republic (X tons), tenfold. Uganda (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Turkey totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Syrian Arab Republic (X% per year) and Uganda (X% per year).

In 2023, overseas purchases of yarn of synthetic or artificial staple fibers increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports showed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.
