In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Oman (X tons) was the main destination for unmanufactured tobacco exports from Egypt, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, unmanufactured tobacco exports to Oman exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, India (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Oman amounted to X,300.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (X% per year) and Libya (X% per year).

India (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Malawi (X tons) were the main suppliers of unmanufactured tobacco imports to Egypt, with a combined X% share of total imports. Uganda, Thailand, Indonesia, Zimbabwe, China, France and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
