Exports from Egypt
For the fourth consecutive year, Egypt recorded decline in shipments abroad of paddy rice, which decreased by X% to X tons in 2016. Overall, exports saw a significant contraction. The smallest decline of X% was in 2013. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2016, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, paddy rice exports fell markedly to $X in 2016. In general, exports recorded a precipitous curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2016, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the main destination for paddy rice exports from Egypt, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, paddy rice exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Sudan (X tons), threefold.
From 2012 to 2016, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United Arab Emirates totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sudan (X% per year) and Oman (X% per year).

In 2022, the United States (X tons) was the main paddy rice supplier to Egypt, accounting for a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium (X kg), with a X% share of total imports. Pakistan (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
