Exports from Egypt
In 2022, shipments abroad of soft drinks decreased by X% to X litres, falling for the fifth consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports saw a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X litres. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, soft drink exports fell notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Italy (X litres), Yemen (X litres) and Libya (X litres) were the main destinations of soft drink exports from Egypt, with a combined X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Yemen (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X), Yemen ($X) and Libya ($X) were the largest markets for soft drink exported from Egypt worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports.

In 2022, overseas purchases of soft drinks increased by X% to X litres, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X litres in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, soft drink imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by X%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Austria (X litres) constituted the largest soft drink supplier to Egypt, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, soft drink imports from Austria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Saudi Arabia (X litres), eightfold. The Netherlands (X litres) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Austria totaled X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (X% per year) and the Netherlands (X% per year).
