In 2021, after two years of decline, there was growth in the ECOWAS radar apparatus market, when its value increased by 2.6% to $X. In general, consumption continues to indicate a slight decline. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, radar apparatus production stood at $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, recorded a mild reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by 33%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in ECOWAS
In 2021, the amount of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus exported in ECOWAS totaled X tons, increasing by 4.2% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 72%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, radar apparatus exports contracted modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 69%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Togo (X tons) and Senegal (X tons) represented the key exporters of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus in 2021, accounting for near 33% and 29% of total exports, respectively. Cote d'Ivoire (X kg) took an 8.9% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Nigeria (6.3%) and Guinea-Bissau (5.7%). Ghana (X kg), Benin (X kg) and Guinea (X kg) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Guinea-Bissau (with a CAGR of +90.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Togo ($X), Senegal ($X) and Nigeria ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 55% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Ghana, Benin and Guinea, which together accounted for a further 25%.
Guinea-Bissau, with a CAGR of +162.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Guinea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guinea-Bissau (+37.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in ECOWAS
For the third year in a row, ECOWAS recorded decline in purchases abroad of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus, which decreased by -72.3% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 1,402%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, radar apparatus imports amounted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 172% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Ghana was the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded 39% of total imports. Burkina Faso (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Senegal (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 52% share of total imports. The following importers - Guinea (X tons) and Niger (X tons) - each amounted to a 4.2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to radar apparatus imports into Ghana stood at +10.2%. At the same time, Burkina Faso (+35.0%), Senegal (+22.2%), Niger (+5.9%) and Cote d'Ivoire (+4.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Burkina Faso emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +35.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Guinea (-10.6%) and Nigeria (-18.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Ghana, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire increased by +24, +18, +10 and +4.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Ghana ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus in ECOWAS, comprising 31% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Nigeria, with a 13% share.
In Ghana, radar apparatus imports expanded at an average annual rate of +12.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Cote d'Ivoire (+30.4% per year) and Nigeria (-3.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 312% against the previous year. Overall, the import price enjoyed a prominent increase. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Niger ($X per ton), while Burkina Faso ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
