Over the period under review, exports, however, saw resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 131% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, exports of iron or steel doors, thresholds for doors and windows declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 51% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

Exports by Country

Ghana dominates windows structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 86% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Togo (X units), achieving a 4.6% share of total exports. Senegal (X units) and Nigeria (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Ghana was also the fastest-growing in terms of the iron or steel doors, thresholds for doors and windows exports, with a CAGR of +73.9% from 2012 to 2022. In Ghana, exports of iron or steel doors, thresholds for doors and windows increased at an average annual rate of +72.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Senegal (+13.5% per year) and Togo (+17.0% per year).

In 2022, purchases abroad of iron or steel doors, thresholds for doors and windows decreased by -20.4% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. In general, imports saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of iron or steel doors, thresholds for doors and windows declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 85% against the previous year.
