In 2022, Liberia (X units), distantly followed by Mali (X units), Nigeria (X units), Guinea (X units) and Senegal (X units) represented the largest exporters of electrical apparatus for sound or visual signalling, together committing 90% of total exports. In terms of the main exporting countries, Mali, with a CAGR of +53.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -24.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 99%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2021, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per unit), while Mali ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+59.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in ECOWAS

In 2022, approx. X units of electrical apparatus for sound or visual signalling were imported in ECOWAS; dropping by -10.1% compared with 2021. Overall, imports saw a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 103% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The import price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -24.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw modest growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 146%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mali ($X per unit), while Cabo Verde ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
